KNODOS 58mm Espresso Puck Screen — Ultra Thin Stainless Steel Portafilter Filter Screen

The KNODOS 58mm Espresso Puck Screen is an ultra-thin reusable stainless steel mesh that sits on top of your coffee puck inside the portafilter. It spreads water evenly across the puck surface for more uniform extraction and keeps spent grounds from sticking to the group head shower screen. Thin enough to fit on top of a full 18–21g dose without pressing against the shower screen. Fits all 58mm portafilters including E61, Gaggia, Rocket, ECM, Rancilio, La Marzocco, and Breville Dual Boiler.

How a Puck Screen Works

Place the screen on top of your tamped coffee puck, inside the portafilter basket, before locking the portafilter into the machine. When brewing starts, water from the shower screen hits the puck screen first. Instead of finding the path of least resistance through the coffee, the water spreads across the full surface area of the screen before reaching the puck. This gives you more even saturation from the very first second of extraction — the stage where most channeling begins.

Cleaner Group Head

Without a puck screen, spent coffee grounds press directly against the shower screen during extraction and stick after the shot. Over time, these stuck grounds build up and affect water flow. The puck screen acts as a barrier — grounds stay below the screen and the shower screen stays clean. Less scrubbing between shots, and longer intervals between full group head cleaning.

Ultra Thin Design

The screen is made from food-grade stainless steel mesh — thin enough to fit inside a 58mm basket on top of a standard 18–21g dose without pressing against the shower screen. It does not reduce the dose capacity of your basket in any meaningful way. Stainless steel resists corrosion, heat, and espresso cleaning chemicals.

How to Use — Step by Step

1. Dose and distribute your ground coffee into the portafilter basket.

2. Tamp as usual.

3. Place the puck screen flat on top of the tamped puck.

4. Lock the portafilter into your espresso machine and extract.

5. After the shot, knock out the puck — the screen comes out with it or stays in the basket.

6. Rinse the screen under running water. Deep clean weekly with espresso machine cleaning solution.
