Fits Any E61 Machine

The E61 is the most common 58mm group head design in semi-commercial espresso machines. This portafilter uses E61-standard 2-ear lugs and locks in with a quarter turn. If your machine has an E61 group head, this portafilter fits. That includes Rocket (Appartamento, Giotto, Mozzafiato), ECM (Classika, Mechanika, Synchronika), Profitec (Pro 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800), Lelit (Bianca, MaraX, Elizabeth), Ascaso, VBM, Bezzera, Quick Mill, and Flair 58.

What a Bottomless Portafilter Shows You

With a spouted portafilter, espresso disappears into two metal tubes and comes out the bottom. You have no idea what is happening inside the basket. A bottomless portafilter removes the spout entirely. You see the espresso form on the underside of the basket — where it starts, how it spreads, whether it flows evenly or channels to one side. That information tells you whether your grind, dose, and distribution are working or need adjustment.

18–21g Double Shot Basket

A stainless steel double shot basket comes installed in the portafilter, rated for 18 to 21 grams. This is the standard dose range for most home espresso recipes. The basket lifts out — replace it with a VST, IMS, or any other standard 58mm aftermarket basket whenever you want.

Maple Handle

Maple is the lightest handle wood in the KNODOS range. The pale, uniform grain gives the portafilter a clean, modern look that matches light-colored kitchen setups and pairs well with chrome or white espresso machines. Maple is hard, moisture-resistant, and smooth to the touch — it does not absorb coffee oils or odors and cleans with a quick wipe.

Machine Compatibility

Fits any espresso machine with a standard E61 58mm group head and 2-ear lugs. Does not fit Gaggia Classic (different lug spacing) or Breville 54mm machines (3-ear lugs). A separate Gaggia-specific portafilter is available.

Frequently Asked Questions

My machine has a 58mm portafilter — does that mean it is E61?

Not necessarily. Several machines use 58mm portafilters with non-E61 group heads — including the Gaggia Classic, which has different lug spacing. Check your machine's specifications or group head type before ordering. If it says E61, this portafilter fits.

What does a bottomless portafilter do that a spouted one does not?

It lets you see the extraction. Channeling, uneven flow, and puck prep problems are visible from below the basket in real time. A spouted portafilter hides all of this. Most home baristas use a bottomless portafilter to improve their technique faster.

Can I backflush with a bottomless portafilter?

Backflushing requires a blind basket (solid disk with no holes), not a regular filter basket. You can insert a blind basket into this portafilter and backflush normally. The bottomless design does not affect the backflushing process.

Why maple instead of walnut or rosewood?

Maple is the lightest and brightest option. If you prefer a clean, modern look or have a lighter-colored kitchen, maple matches better than darker woods. Functionally, all three handle materials are moisture-resistant and durable.

Will aftermarket baskets from VST or IMS fit?

Yes. The portafilter body accepts any standard 58mm filter basket without modification.
